Collection consists of correspondence ca. 1985-1995, drafts towards published works including The Dogwood Tree, Dares, and Jepthaw's Vows. Correspondents include Alison Funk and Linda Ballard. Eric Pankey was born on February 25, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of James A. and Frances Pankey (nee Pierce) both of whom were accountants. In 1985 he married Jennifer Atkinson a writer whose papers are also in Special Collections. Pankey obtained degrees from the University of Missouri at Columbia, B.S., 1981 and the University of Iowa, M.F.A., 1983. Jennifer Atkinson (M.F.A., University of Iowa, 1984) is the author of two collections of poetry: The Dogwood Tree, and The Drowned City. She is the winner of the University of Alabama Poetry Prize for her first book and of the Samuel French Morse Prize for her second book.
